It is my privilege to have met so many of you through my involvement in the community. I look forward to meeting many more of my fellow neighbors. Whether, it is through our shared work with charities, the environment, education, attainable housing, professionally or LGBTQ activism, I am ready to bring my talents, your voice, and real change to Tallahassee. Yes, I’ve thrown my hat in, and I'm running for Florida State House of Representatives District 78.
We can no longer sit on the sidelines and expect others to take care of our state’s most urgent issues:
our environment and waterways are becoming toxic;
Legislators are systematically defunding our public schools;
meanwhile, 40% of Floridians, including teachers and public safety officers, are paying over 30% of their income for less housing choice, and, add in transportation costs, then half those pay over 58% of their incomes. That’s money kept from being spent in small businesses all across Florida.
Furthermore, power is being stripped from local governments and concentrated into Tallahassee’s bureaucracy. These issues do not simply disappear over time: they continue to get tougher to correct, and more expensive the longer we wait.
We need a new guard in Tallahassee: A person who gets things done, who isn’t afraid to compromise, and who is solid in his values. We need true District representation: the voice of its citizens. We need to build a community: A community where we can find common ground and purpose to get our priorities done together.
